Back to School 2019

book, lunchbox, toothbrush, soap, backpack, reusable sandwich bag, band aids, sneakers, wipes, rain boots, bow, immune support supplements, water bottle, crayons

I thought about creating “back to school baskets” for my kids this year to get them excited about the season! Everything here is something we either already have and use (and love like this reusable water bottle, these wipes– no, I’m not putting them in their baskets, this bag, these sneakers, and these boots!), something I am planning on purchasing (love this backpack- not a sustainable brand, though- AND the mini Kanken backpack– I have the full size and love it) or something I’d like to buy.

Shop back to school essentials:

As for accessories for Amelia, I really appreciate handmade bows and though I have a few favorite handmade shops (Pali Handmade for the sweetest bonnets & La Belle Baby for vintage velvets and fabrics) I love Wunderkin for everyday bows and clips. This midi fable bow in Ingrid is too cute for throwing in for back to school adventures!

Shop back to school clothes, etc.:

Tell me I’m not the only person who thinks this summer just disappeared?! This has to be one of the fastest summers I can remember, like so fast that I can hardly remember it in general! It seems like we are/were constantly on the go (with the exception of some weekdays which I CHERISH!)- we do a lot of 2 day/night trips and I think that contributes significantly to the feeling of it being so transient because we can never really settle. It looks like our fall is going to be pretty similar, though, so I’m going to try really hard to be more conscious of soaking it in by setting boundaries for work/to do lists and designating more time for the kids! It’s easy when I’m home with them all day to take advantage of it or take it for granted that I always get to be with them (all day every day, haha!) so I don’t always set aside that specific time but I know I need to! I really struggle with routine so that is something I’m going to work on this fall… just in time for back to school prep!

Anyway, I definitely need some help in the back to school category…what do you like to stock up on for the season or year? Amelia is only in pre-school 3 days a week this year (AND Joseph is doing 2 days at Mom’s Morning Out! They both start next week with the new schedule but Amelia went all summer 2 days a week) so I’m just starting to kind of get a feel for what I need. This is the first time I’ve ever been without both kids other than for a planned event/outing/etc. and I’m looking forward to having some time to myself, as little as it may be right now! So, if you’ve done this before, help me (and everyone else reading this) out and tell me ALL your back to school tips, please!!

Sincerely, Britt
