It’s hard to believe that the Fourth of July is close enough to start thinking about making plans, getting dressed for a barbecue (yay!), and potentially even packing for a mini vacation but here we are! I’d say it doesn’t feel like mid-June right now, and it doesn’t, but I honestly don’t know what it feels like right now. Just kind of weird and like we’re all in limbo! Is it just me? Anyway, one of the things that makes me feel SO much better- and I may have talked about this before- is getting dressed and feeling just a little bit put together. It may seem silly but before I go to sleep (after counting my blessings and doing my typical nighttime routine) I try to think about what I want to wear the next day as a way of keeping my mind from wandering and helping me to wind down by letting my brain rest, even if I know I’m not going anywhere or even planning on necessarily “getting dressed” the next day. Anyway, we don’t have actual plans for the Fourth of July yet but here are some pieces, all from Everlane, that I’d like to wear on our next summer outing. I like them because they’re all able to be mixed and matched as well as transition from season to season with a bit of layering for the ultimate closet versatility. I also made a conscious effort to choose pieces with being comfortable and keeping cool top of mind.

I like Everlane’s selection of red, white, and blue pieces for the Fourth of July especially because they don’t scream patriotic. It also helps that the hues are classic colors while the silhouettes are clean and relatively traditional which means you can wear them year after year. I also really appreciate that the majority of the pieces I chose are machine-washable and most of them are light and airy. I actually have these pointed toe flats and I chose the navy because they’ll work from spring to fall. They’re super comfortable which is really important to me in a shoe- I do a lot of chasing after my kids, haha! I also recently tried their denim shorts and I really like them, too! I went with these ones and I sized down- I’m in between sizes and tend to size down if something looks like it runs a little large- I love the fit and the material! Take your normal size or maybe even up if you like looser-fitting shorts or even jeans- I’ve found that Everlane’s denim does stretch, though, so just consider that when choosing a size! I almost always have to size down in their oversized styles. Shoes have run TTS for me, same goes for tops and tees, including their t-shirt dresses.

I hope you’re having a great week so far! We have Amelia’s drive by preschool graduation today in a half hour and we’re not even dressed so if that’s not an indication of how our day is going I don’t know what is. Also, it’s my youngest sister’s 19th birthday today so we’re having cake for her after that! It’s crazy to stop and think about how fast the time is going- sometimes I wish I could slow it down just a bit!
