Gingham Dress for Spring & Summer

I love a good black and white mix, whether it be sticking to a black and white palette for a look, a print, stripes, you name it. It just feels so classic (it is) and I don’t mind spending money on something I know isn’t going to go out of style. For some reason, this season I’ve been really drawn to gingham and particularly black and white gingham pieces (see here for Exhibit B). I love the sharp color contrast, the timeless and sophisticated look it gives, and the feeling of summer it emits.

I really like a gingham dress for summer because not only is it timeless, but it works for most occasions. You can wear it to a barbecue or a party with sandals or flats to dress it down or add heels and some jewelry to dress it up for brunch or a shower. You could even add a blazer and strappy sandals for date night! Love this one and this one by Gal Meets Glam (have you seen their new collection yet? Shop it on Gal Meets Glam or on Nordstrom! I love everything she’s designed so far!)!

On a totally unrelated note, is anyone else dealing with colds right now? I thought cold season was over!! Thankfully we haven’t had any fevers or anything really bad but Amelia, Joseph, and I are all fighting colds right now… we’ve been diffusing lots of oils lately to get rid of the germs and boost our energy!

Speaking of oils, is anyone interested in learning more about essential oils and what I use and love? If so, leave me a comment or send me an email and let me know! I’ve been hesitant to share too much mostly because I wasn’t sure if anyone would be interested and I know not everyone is into the whole crunchy granola thing but let me know if you are!

Happy Tuesday! We had a really nice weekend and capped it off with a beach day on Sunday! Beach days are my absolute favorite- there is nothing better than being by the ocean… except maybe having your coffee by the ocean! The kids were great and it was a nice break for Joe and I to have some time to talk on the way down and back. We have a lot to sort right now since we’re in the process of selling our house (inspection is today!) so some down time is always welcome and was much needed. I’m glad we took the break rather than spent the day doing chores… they were still there when we got home! Anyone have any fun plans for Memorial Day weekend this weekend? I can’t believe it’s already the end of May! Joe’s birthday is next week, too, so this is always his weekend to decide what he wants to do!
