Sustainable Brands & Everlane

I know I’ve talked about them before… ok, a lot… and I wanted to take a minute to highlight them again. Everlane is honestly one of my favorite brands- I have two pairs of jeans from them, a sweatshirt dress, two tee shirt dresses, and countless tees in case you were wondering if I’m being genuine and actually buy and wear their clothes. I do. They practice something that they call “radical transparency” which means that you know exactly how much the item you’re purchasing cost to make and where it was made (you can even see the factories). Real people work in their factories and they’re dedicated to providing the best working conditions and giving back when they can. They’ve also recently developed a line using recycled bottles called ReNew and I LOVE it! This fleece sweatshirt (in one of the greens or blues size xs, if someone reading this is still looking for a gift for me, haha!) made from 100% recycled polyester/35 renewed plastic bottles and this lightweight puffer jacket made from 15 recycled bottles. These flats are also on my list- they come in 13 colors (I think I want the caramel color) and I’ve heard they’re beyond comfortable!

Also, I bought this bag for my sister last summer before she went to Europe and she loved it! I love the dark green color it comes in.

I’ve really gotten away from “fast fashion” these past few years and have become more interested in buying pieces that are going to last, can be worn with almost anything, and have a lighter impact on our planet. For posterity’s sake, I absolutely still buy things that are not particularly eco-friendly, but I’m learning every day and I’m being conscious of trying to buy locally and be an informed consumer. It’s a lot harder than I thought it would be to find brands, companies, makers, etc. that embody these criteria so I thought I’d list some of my favorites here for you, in case you’re interested in becoming more eco-friendly, too 🙂 I’ve only listed clothing brands here as that’s where I’ve had the most luck.

jeans: Everlane c/o, sweater: Madewell (from last year but they’re having a 25% off your purchase sale right now!), cardigan: Nordstrom, mules: Nordstrom (Treasure & Bond x Something Navy- for last year), lip: Bobbi Brown in crushed plum

Everlane
Girlfriend Collective: another company that prides itself on transparency and uses 100% recycled polyester/ plastic bottles and fishing nets. They make the cutest workout sets and they come in a bunch of covetable colors!
Patagonia: Though not all their clothing is made from recycled materials, they do offer an initiative called Worn Wear where you can recycle your Patagonia gear for a credit and purchase new or used Patagonia clothing. They also are huge proponents for giving back to the environment and advocates and supporters for finding a solution to our environmental crisis.
Rothy’s: I have not personally tried these yet but they’re on my list. Rothy’s makes shoes, and cute shoes at that, using recycled plastic.
Amour Vert: I have not tried any of their clothing items on yet but they’re a little more feminine and wear to work or party friendly.
Vitamin A Swim: One of their swimsuits is on my wish list- the Venus Top in Black BioRib (plant based) and either the high waisted or full coverage bottoms (because I’m a mom of toddlers and anything else just isn’t pretty on me when chasing them around)!

{note: Patagonia, Amour Vert, and Vitamin A Swim do not participate in RewardStyle, the affiliate company I use to earn a small commission from most purchases on my blog. Just pointing this out to show how much I really do love and recommend these brands, regardless of whether or not I make a commission}

Hope you guys have a great day! I’m feeling relieved that it’s Thursday. Even though we have a busy weekend (one party to go to and Joseph’s birthday), I’m looking forward to taking some time to reset. I’ve been doing really well this week with getting up at least an hour before the kids (so I need to be out of bed at 6am if I want a full hour) to get some alone time to actually work on the blog and I LOVE it! Now to block off the rest of my day so I can start tackling my to do list (haha, I know… yea right!). Thanks so much for stopping by!

Sincerely, Britt
